Senior Project Accountant (Fixed Term 15-16 Months)


IO’s Finance, Technology, and Lending Enterprise Team ensures that IO is a financially efficient and effectively managed organization and that the agency’s finances are monitored, reported, and managed appropriately. The team also manages the infrastructure lending program, which has supported more than $15 billion in local infrastructure development, and IO’s Information Technology and Business Services, providing tools and systems to ensure secure, effective, and efficient operations.

As a Senior Project Accountant, you will have the exciting opportunity to oversee the project team, and the completeness and accuracy of the financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting of GREP project costs and recoveries. 
You will act as a key business partner with the Realty operating division at Infrastructure Ontario, Project Management Service Providers and the Ministries, along with being responsible for overseeing the processes to maintain and improve the smooth and efficient integration of project related financial information and projects systems.


What you will do:
•Ensures the life cycle of projects from project activation to project closeout including any analysis/changes required, oversee all project analysis and reporting processes and review and approve monthly accounting entries
•Coordinate the development of schedules, policies, procedures and systems to enable timely gathering, analysis and reporting of project financial data in compliance with the Public Sector Accounting Standards and the Province of Ontario Accounting policies. Audit project accounting information in financial system and act as a liaison with the internal and external audit teams
•Oversee reconciliation process & provide information required for operational dashboards and executive reports to ensure that it is reflective of the financial statements and MD&A
•Identify process improvement  and documentation opportunities including development of customized reports, creation of templates to promote improved/faster reporting and analysis to support data validation & journal entries
•Provide support and guidance to the Project Accounting team and the Director in developing and motivating a team of high-caliber professionals


What we are looking for:
•A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in realty project accounting roles
•Experience working on continuous improvement projects, and exposure to directing daily tasks of a team, including providing feedback
•University degree with a focus in accounting, and CPA designation is a must
•Exceptional proficiency in accounting related software as well as Excel
