On behalf of the Ontario government, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) strategically manages one of the largest real estate portfolios in Canada, which includes more than 4,400 buildings and 194,000 acres of land.

IO has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a private sector service provider for Real Property Services as the current property and land management contract will expire in 2024.  The new contract will include the delivery of day-to-day property management services, asset renewal works, capital planning, energy/environmental management and lease administration.

In designing this next generation contract, IO has incorporated lessons learned from years of effectively delivering services in over 350 communities across Ontario. The RFQ will pre-qualify best-in-class companies capable of taking an innovative approach to Real Property Services while leveraging technology. The successful service provider will help IO continue to drive value for provincial taxpayers through the strategic management of the government’s multi-billion-dollar real estate portfolio.

The RFQ is the first step in the procurement process. IO will evaluate submissions and develop a shortlist of qualified proponents who will be invited to respond to a Request for Proposals in early 2022. A second RFQ focussed on a next generation contract for Transaction Services is to be released in late fall 2021.
