Infrastructure Ontario and Bridgepoint Health announced today the companies that pre-qualified to design, build, finance and maintain the new Bridgepoint Hospital, which will replace the existing facility.  Bridgepoint Hospital will be built expressly to provide specialized hospital and related services for people living with complex chronic disease and disability.  

The pre-qualified companies include: 

  • Access Bridgepoint Health - Babcock & Brown Canada ULC, Farrow Partnership Architects, Barton Malow/McKay Cocker/Walbridge Aldinger, Dalkia Group; 
  •  Carillion Canada Inc. - Carillion Canada Inc., HOK Architects Corporation/Montgomery Sisam Architects, Vanbots Construction, Carillion/Vanbots Services Bridgepoint Inc., CIT Group Securities (Canada) Inc. (Financial Advisor);
  • Integrated Team Solutions (ITS) - EllisDon Corporation, Fengate Capital Management Inc., LPF Infrastructure Fund, Parkin Architects Ltd., Honeywell Ltd., RBC Dominion Securities Inc. (Financial Advisor); 
  • Pinnacle Health Hospital Concessions - Innisfree, John Laing Investments, Perkins Eastman Black Architects, Obrascon Huarte Lain, S.A (OHL), Bondfield Construction, Axima Services Inc., Investec (Financial Advisor); and Johnston Controls Inc. 
  • Plenary Group (Canada) Ltd. - Plenary Group, HDR Architects/Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc., PCL Constructors Inc., Johnston Controls Inc. 

    Of the five pre-qualified companies, three companies will be invited to respond to a request for proposals (RFP), expected to be issued in mid 2008. The three short-listed companies include: 

  • Access Bridgepoint Health - Babcock & Brown Canada ULC, Farrow Partnership Architects, Barton Malow/McKay Cocker/Walbridge Aldinger, Dalkia Group;  
  • Carillion Canada Inc. - Carillion Canada Inc., HOK Architects Corporation/Montgomery Sisam Architects, Vanbots Construction, Carillion/Vanbots Services Bridgepoint Inc., CIT Group Securities (Canada) Inc. (Financial Advisor);  
  • Plenary Group (Canada) Ltd. - Plenary Group, HDR Architects/Diamond Schmitt Architects Inc., PCL Constructors Inc., Johnston Controls Inc. 

    The remaining two pre-qualified companies will act as reserves in the event that one of the three short-listed companies is unable to bid. Pre-qualified companies were selected based on their development, design, construction, financial, and facilities management capacity to undertake a project of this size and complexity.

    The teams were pre-qualified through a request for qualifications (RFQ) process, which began in November 2007.  

    Bridgepoint Health is a publicly funded health care organization, in Toronto, that provides patient care, research and teaching in the specialized field of complex chronic disease prevention and management - the biggest health care challenge of the 21st century. Affiliated with the University of Toronto, the Bridgepoint Health network includes Bridgepoint Hospital, Bridgepoint Family Health Team, the Bridgepoint Centre for Research, Education and Policy, and the Bridgepoint Health Foundation. 

    Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will work with Bridgepoint Health to build the new hospital, which will remain publicly owned, publicly controlled and publicly accountable. Infrastructure Ontario is a Crown corporation dedicated to managing some of the province's larger and more complex infrastructure renewal projects-ensuring they are built on time and on budget.  

    This project is guided by principles outlined in the Province's Building a Better Tomorrow framework, which ensures public ownership of core assets such as hospitals, schools, and water and wastewater facilities.
