Project Manager, Public Works Portfolio

Our Major Projects division is responsible for delivering some of the province’s largest and most important public infrastructure projects. Our made-in-Ontario approach to modern project delivery has resulted in over 100 major projects brought to market and made Ontario a global leader in infrastructure development. Projects have included new hospitals, highways, transit systems, and courthouses. We have a track record of delivering new projects on time and on budget while meeting high standards for design, quality, and health and safety.

What You Will Do

Manage all aspects of the planning, design, and construction of large and complex government office mega-projects delivered through Public-Private Partnerships (P3s).

Manage relationships with various groups of internal and external stakeholders to mitigate project risks and ensure that project objectives are met.

Manage projects through various stages of development (Pre-transaction, Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) stages), construction, furniture procurement, commissioning and to the final transfer of responsibility to operations.


Who We're Looking For

  • University degree in Engineering, Architecture, Commerce, or other relevant disciplines combined with a minimum of 8 years of progressive hands-on experience managing building construction and systems in an owner representative or a construction supervisory role.
  • Strong business acumen, creative problem solving, solid experience dealing with project budget, schedule, and technical requirements as well as financial and legal matters, and contract management are required.
  • Experience with P3 programs and building construction and systems is strongly preferred, with solid understanding of the various specific P3 delivery models (e.g. Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance-Maintain, etc.).

To succeed in this role, you must have sound stakeholder management skills and experience finding creative solutions to complex issues with clients and diverse teams of project consultants and specialists. Advanced presentation, consultation, negotiation, influencing and consensus building skills are also required. Experience negotiating claims, scope changes and other compliance and contractual items on projects is desirable.
