Our Real Estate division manages the province’s portfolio of government buildings and land, which is one of the largest and most diverse in the country. We oversee the day-to-day operation and long-term maintenance of these facilities through partnerships with private-sector service providers. We are responsible for ensuring provincially-owned real estate is being used in the best, most optimal way. Finding innovative ways to reduce and revitalize the government’s building and land holdings is central to our business and integral to the value we provide Ontarians.

Internally, this position will be known as Portfolio Advisor.

What You Will Do

  • Provide real estate advice and expertise to clients in order to ensure real estate requirements are aligned with overall objectives and program requirements.
  • Working directly with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop, and then recommend opportunities and solutions for effective program delivery.
  • Manage this client relationship by partnering to create value in the real estate decisions made, through analysis, options, and business case proposals.

 Who We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree (Real Estate, Business, Finance or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of real estate finance and accounting concepts and principles, feasibility analysis, and portfolio management with an emphasis on office properties
  • Understanding how the real estate market operates, including competitive forces at play, and how to collect and analyze market information relevant to task at hand.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate real estate management, real estate consulting, advisory, and/or accommodation planning.
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis for real estate investments, including cost/benefit analysis, expenditure payback analysis, discounted cash flow, NPV, and IRR.

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent analytical skills to research, synthesize, and analyze complex data for senior level decision makers, solid communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build positive relationships and deal effectively with external and internal stakeholders and a customer/client focused attitude, collaborative style and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment of an evolving organization is also required.

Employment in the Real Estate Division is conditional upon obtaining security clearance through the Program & Policy Enablement Branch, Supply Chain Ontario of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.
