Environmental Specialist


Our Real Estate division manages the province’s portfolio of government buildings and land, which is one of the largest and most diverse in the country. We oversee the day-to-day operation and long-term maintenance of these facilities through partnerships with private-sector service providers. We are responsible for ensuring provincially-owned real estate is being used in the best, most optimal way. Finding innovative ways to reduce and revitalize the government’s building and land holdings is central to our business and integral to the value we provide Ontarians.

What You Will Do

  • Provide expertise in the identification and management of environmental concerns, issues, and protect Infrastructure Ontario's and the Province's liability with respect to environmental due diligence and project delivery.
  • Provide strategic environmental advice as it relates to projects of Infrastructure Ontario's internal and external stakeholders, particularly from a risk-based perspective
  • Facilitate environmental due diligence for all undertakings in the real property portfolio province-wide.

Who We're Looking For

  • Post-Secondary degree in environmental science, geosciences, engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience with project management, and a minimum of 8 years of experience which includes Environmental Assessment, Class EA, Phase I and II ESAs, environmental and health and safety regulatory compliance practices, audit processes, site remediation and risk assessments
  • Experience which includes environmental knowledge transfer, knowledge of environmental and/or health and safety regulatory compliance processes, procedures in risk assessment, auditing procedures and processes, environmental assessment and class environmental assessment processes.
  • Knowledge of issues, liabilities, and risk management involved in property transaction process, and of the real estate industry. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to resolve issues and recommend solutions
  • Effective analytical, interpretive, and project management skills and proficiency project management applications and geospatial solutions.
