Toronto - Ontario has confirmed that Plenary Serco DES has been selected as the service provider for driver examination services, which includes operating and maintaining a network of drive test centres in the province.
Plenary Serco DES is a consortium of Plenary Group Canada Ltd., Serco DES Inc. and CGI Inc. The selection of Plenary Serco DES is the result of an open, fair and competitive procurement process that began in October 2011.
In addition to providing driver examination services, Plenary Serco DES will make capital improvements to the network, such as providing new IT systems that will improve customer service.
Over the contract term, Plenary Serco DES will pay the province approximately $207 million (in today's dollars) to operate and manage the Drive Test Centres across Ontario.
The province's current contract with Serco DES Inc. will expire on August 31, 2013 and the new operator will begin providing services on September 1, 2013.
